In short
A slide is a fixed 1080 by 1350 pixel box. If the words are longer than the designer planned for, or you retyped a headline into something longer, the text can run past the edge and get cut off. On LinkedIn that is the part a reader never sees.
The warning
After every render, edit and font load, the editor checks each slide. An element that sits outside the slide, or text clipped inside a box that hides overflow, marks the slide with an amber ring and a bar that says the text runs past the edge. The ring is amber on purpose: it says look here, not that something is broken.
Fix it in one click
The bar has a Fix it button. It does not change the slide itself. It adds a pending comment on the slide asking the designer to bring the text inside the edge. Press Apply changes, and the designer shortens or resizes the words so they fit.
Fix it yourself
- Right-click the long text and choose Edit text. Cut the words down; a headline of eight words or fewer reads best on a phone.
- Or choose Move and resize and drag a corner to make the box fit inside the slide.
- If one idea needs more room than a slide has, split it over two slides with a comment: "split this slide in two".
Hand edits cost no edit round, so for a few words that is the cheaper way. The guide to editing text by hand has the details.
Why it happens
- The brief contained a lot of text per point, and the designer fitted it onto one slide.
- A translation is longer than the original. German often is.
- A font was changed to a wider one after the layout was made.
Questions
Will the PDF show cut-off text?
The PDF shows what the slide shows, so cut-off text is cut off in the file too. Fix the warning before you export.
Does the warning appear in the exported file?
No. The amber ring and the bar are part of the editor only.
