In short
Buffer analysed 4.8 million LinkedIn posts, and published the results in September 2026. Here is what it found, and why you should treat it as a starting point.
What the study found
- The peak window is 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays.
- The top three slots are Wednesday at 4 p.m., Friday at 3 p.m. and Friday at 4 p.m.
- Wednesday is the best day, followed by Thursday and Friday. Monday and Tuesday are the weakest.
- Times are local to the audience, so 4 p.m. means 4 p.m. in the time zone you are targeting.
Why not just copy it
Buffer's authors say every audience is a little different and that timing research is not black and white. A group of recruiters in Berlin and a group of engineers in Texas read LinkedIn at different times.
How to find your time
- Post at the study's times for three weeks, and note the impressions of each post.
- Move a few posts to mornings, and note them too.
- Compare similar posts only. A carousel and a text post do not compare.
- Keep the slot that wins, and test again in a few months.
A better post at a bad time usually beats a weak post at a good time. Start with what to post, then adjust the time.
